By adding tea into the mix, we can unlock a whole new realm of novel, gratifying tastes and create a truly extraordinary margarita experience. At Tavalon, we offer a range of premium tea blends that harmoniously complement the vibrant character of this iconic cocktail. Let's discover the key ingredients and the simple steps to craft this pleasing tea-infused margarita.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Genmaicha, frozen into ice cubes
  • 1.5 oz tequila (blanco or reposado)
  • 3/4 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 oz orange liqueur such Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • Mint and lime slices, for garnish
  • 2 tsp sugar

Instructions

1. Begin by brewing your Genmaicha loose leaf. Steep 1-2 tablespoons of the tea in 8 ounces of hot water for about 3-4 minutes. Allow the brewed tea to cool and then fully freeze as ice cubes. 1 cup of Genmaicha is sufficient for Green Margarita.

2. Rub the lime wedge around the rim of your glass

3. Pour sugar onto a saucer, and dip and rotate the rim in the saucer of sugar, making sure to keep the sugar on the outside of the glass.

4. In a blender, combine the Genmaicha ice cubes, tequila, lime juice, Cointreau or Triple Sec, and simple syrup.

5. Blend on pulse setting until slushy.

6. Pour into your glass and garnish with a mint and lime slice.

7. Sip, savour, and enjoy the delightful fusion of the classic margarita and the tantalising notes of Tavalon's Japanese Genmaicha green tea.

Tavalon's tea-infused margarita brings a delightful twist to the classic cocktail, infusing it with the nuanced flavour of one of our citrusy, nutty green tea.
